This is a weekend for men who are ready to stop drifting and start showing up—for themselves, their relationships, and their lives.
The Hero’s Journey is a guided, grounded experience rooted in ancient storytelling, honest group work, and moments of solitude on sacred land. You’ll arrive Friday evening and settle in with a small group of men—all here to do the same thing: face what’s real. We begin by naming the weight each man carries, and from there, we move into structured sessions that blend personal reflection, myth-based exercises, ritual, and real, face-to-face conversation.
This isn’t a place to perform. There’s nothing to prove. Just real work, real men, and the kind of silence that allows the truth to surface.
We cap the retreat at 13 men total, keeping the group tight and the work personal. Our Main Lodge has five double-occupancy rooms, each with a private bath. For those seeking additional privacy, we offer three standalone accommodations—The Cabin, The Stable Apartment, and The Carriage House—each located right on the property, providing a more secluded and quiet space for reflection.
You’ll have time to walk trails, be still by the water, and connect around the fire. You’ll have space to challenge yourself without being forced—and to be seen without being judged. Meals are nourishing and communal. The land is quiet, wild, and sacred. No phones. No filler. Just a call to stop hiding and start listening—to yourself and to the story your life’s been trying to tell.
This retreat is led by Dr. Thomas Jefferys and Dr. Laura Maneates, two deeply experienced clinicians and guides who have dedicated their lives to helping men rediscover who they are beneath the noise, the pressure, and the pain. With backgrounds in psychology, trauma work, archetypal study, and addiction recovery, they bring a rare mix of compassion, clarity, and structure.
This isn’t a workshop. It’s not therapy-lite. It’s a return—to self, to strength, to something real.

What Makes This Retreat Special
Most retreats offer you a break. We offer you a turning point.
What makes The Hero’s Journey different isn’t just the depth—it’s the direction. We don’t just sit around talking about what’s wrong. We help men move. Through the mud. Through the myth. Through the mess. We dig under behaviors and into beliefs—because without that shift, the old patterns return.
This work is honest, physical, and clear. No jargon. No circles without substance. Just a space where men come face to face with what’s been running the show—and finally take the lead.
We use story as map, myth as medicine, and the land itself as mirror. Hosted on 400 private acres in the Catskills, you’ll walk the same trails our Friesian horses run, take in sunrises over a private lake, and sit in fire circles where something ancient awakens.
This isn’t therapy-lite or some feel-good weekend. It’s sacred. It’s structured. And it’s stripped of fluff. We cap enrollment at 12 men, not because we want to exclude—but because we refuse to dilute. The result? Every man is seen, every voice heard, every breakthrough honored.
What’s our secret sauce? It’s soul, integrity, and the unapologetic belief that men are not broken—they’re buried. And it’s time to dig.
